Classical and jazz guitarist Hady Afro is renowned for his intricate fingerstyle technique and global performances. From UNESCO to international festivals, he leads acclaimed ensembles while fostering new talent through his music center.
Sheikh Hady Basmeih, professionally known as Hady Afro, is a classical and jazz guitarist who draws profound inspiration from legendary masters such as Andres Segovia, John Williams, Julian Bream, and Luis Salinas. His repertoire and technical skill are evidenced by his intricate fingerstyle arrangements, including his work on the piece 'Keroncong Kemayoran.' Internationally recognized, Hady Afro has performed at prestigious global events including the People to People International 2011 in Korea, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee 2011 in France, and the Russia International Guitar Festival and Competition during their 2013 and 2014 seasons. As a bandleader, he performs with the Hady Afro Trio and the Hady Afro Quartet, the latter featuring a lineup of Tengku Indra on piano, Amar Azalan on bass, and Bob Skunjaz on drums. Beyond his performance career, he is a dedicated educator and the founder of the Hady Afro Music Centre, where he oversees instruction for guitar and various other instruments.
