GRAMMY®-winning bassist Bam Rodríguez is a versatile virtuoso bridging Latin, jazz, and classical worlds. A key member of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, he performs globally while championing free music education for underprivileged students.
Bam Rodríguez is a GRAMMY® Award–winning bassist, composer, and educator originally from Venezuela and currently based in New York. A prominent member of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Arturo O’Farrill, he was awarded the 2022 GRAMMY® for Best Latin Jazz Album for "Fandango at the Wall in New York." Known for his exceptional versatility, Rodríguez seamlessly navigates classical, modern jazz, world, and Latin traditions. His career includes collaborations with jazz legends such as Chucho Valdés, Paquito de Rivera, Joe Lovano, and Roy Hargrove, with performances at prestigious global stages including Carnegie Hall and the North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2024, he was a featured performer at Taiwan’s National Theater & Concert Hall Jazz Festival. His musical foundation was built within Venezuela’s renowned El Sistema, followed by dual master’s degrees from the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Amsterdam. Beyond his performance career, he is a dedicated educator and the founder of "We Are Starting a School," a global initiative providing free online music education to underprivileged students.
