Singaporean singer-songwriter Glen Wee is celebrated for his soulful "burnt caramel" vocals. Blending folk-pop, funk, and R&B, his 2019 debut album Sounds In The City captures the essence of his life in Singapore and Melbourne.
Glen Wee is a Singaporean singer-songwriter known for his soulful, "burnt caramel" voice and a musical style that traverses earthy folk-pop, old-school funk, and R&B. He first gained national attention in 2013 as a contestant on the televised singing competition The Final 1, where he finished in fourth place and earned praise from judges for his unique vocal quality. Following his time in the competition, Wee served in the Singapore Armed Forces’ Music and Drama Company (MDC), where he continued to hone his performance skills. He later moved to Melbourne to pursue a music degree at the Australian Institute of Music. In 2019, signed under Warner Music, he released his debut solo album, Sounds In The City. The seven-track album serves as a love letter to the cities he has inhabited—Singapore and Melbourne—featuring tracks like the upbeat "Walking on the Side" and the heartfelt R&B ballad "Send Me An Angel." Wee describes his artistic role as entertaining and translating his understanding of the world into a "little box of sounds."
