Taiwanese musician Hung Shao-Huan is a pioneer, blending the traditional sheng with modern jazz. As the first sheng player at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he masterfully navigates improvisation and formal structure with a unique, contemporary vocabulary.
Hailing from Taiwan, Hung Shao-Huan is a musician dedicated to the innovative application and improvisational exploration of the sheng within jazz and contemporary contexts. A recipient of the New Taipei City "Musical Star" honor, he holds the distinction of being the first Taiwanese student admitted to the Jazz Department of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with the sheng as his primary instrument. His artistry seamlessly blends traditional tonal qualities with a modern musical vocabulary, masterfully navigating the sonic textures between improvisation and formal structure.
