A Malaysian child prodigy and Berklee graduate, Arthur Kam is a New York-based drummer renowned for his versatile grooves. He has collaborated with legends like Sadao Watanabe and Jacky Cheung, blending technical mastery with deep musicality.
Arthur Kam is a versatile drummer known for laying down grooves and beats that drive music into another dimension. A Malaysian child prodigy, he began drumming at age six and started performing on major stages with various local and international artists by the age of seven. By 11, he completed his Grade 8 drum exam with distinction under the Rockschool Examination Board in just six months, earning a place in the Malaysia Book of Records as the "Youngest Person to Complete a Professional Drum Course." In 2008, he achieved global recognition as the winner of Modern Drummer Magazine's "Undiscovered Drummer Contest" (under 18 category), becoming the first Asian and the first drummer outside the Americas to win the title. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, the New York-based drummer sessions for singer-songwriters, artists, and bands across New York, Boston, China, and Malaysia. His extensive performance credits include collaborations with Hong Kong superstar Jacky Cheung, Japanese saxophonist Sadao Watanabe, Indonesia’s Harvey Malaiholo, Singapore’s Ramli Sarip, Anita Sarawak, Taiwan’s Fong Fei Fei, and Philippines’ jazz legend Boy Katindig. He has also performed alongside renowned drummers such as Teddy Campbell, Akira Jimbo, Billy Cobham, and Tommy Campbell. Beyond performing, Kam has over five years of private teaching experience, focusing on both technique and deep musicality.
