A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Szuchi Yang blends classical precision with jazz soul. Known for setting poetry to music, her ethereal vocals and sophisticated arrangements create evocative, genre-blurring musical landscapes.
Szuchi Yang is a singer-songwriter known for her ethereal style that blends jazz and pop aesthetics. With a musical foundation built in choral singing and formal training in both classical and jazz vocals, she is a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom. Her artistic journey has been shaped by experiences in opera, chanson, and musical theater, eventually leading her to find a creative home in jazz. In 2017, she was invited to perform at the Taipei Literature Awards, an experience that inspired her to begin setting poetry to music. This approach culminated in the release of her debut EP in May 2021, titled "If I Can Let the Wind Blow Someone" (如果可以讓風吹起某個人). The record features compositions that retain the depth of her classical and jazz influences while incorporating the accessibility of folk and pop. Currently the lead vocalist for the group "Vocal Time Travel," Yang frequently collaborates with prominent jazz figures, including producer Tsay Wen-hui and pianist Tseng Tseng-yi, to create detailed, soul-stirring musical landscapes.
