Brian Cheung (Cheung Ka-long) is a Hong Kong-based jazz saxophonist who began his musical journey with classical training before discovering jazz during his university years. After graduating from the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, he returned to Hong Kong in 2019 to establish himself in the local jazz scene. Brian is a core member of the S.P.K. Trio alongside pianist Eason Chan and guitarist Michael Chan, a group named after their shared rehearsal space in San Po Kong. He is also a member of the jazz collective "Three and a Half Beats," dedicated to jazz promotion and education. His performance credits include the West Kowloon Cultural District Free Jazz Festival, Ensemble Transience, and the Hong Kong Youth Jazz Collective. Beyond the stage, Brian has contributed to film scores and recordings, notably for the film "Goldfinger" and Wong Yan-kin’s "Chewing the Night." He serves as a tutor at the Hong Kong Saxophone Association and conducts music workshops for various institutions.
