Jazz drummer Cheng Meng-Feng, a graduate of National Dong Hwa University, is a versatile artist known for his work with the Beningging Jazz Quintet. A Golden Melody Award nominee, he seamlessly blends jazz mastery with session work for Mandopop stars.
A graduate of the Jazz Performance program at National Dong Hwa University, Cheng Meng-Feng is a jazz drummer who studied under the tutelage of Hsieh Yi-lin and Lin Wei-chung. His passion for the genre was ignited by a chance encounter in high school, leading to a dedicated pursuit of jazz during his university years. As a founding member of the Beningging Jazz Quintet and the NewBrothers Jazz Quartet, Cheng has performed extensively at major venues throughout Taiwan. His versatile artistry is rooted in early success, having won the Taitung Tiehua Village Band Competition and the Coffee Plaza Indie Rock competition. Beyond the jazz scene, he is an active session musician in the Mandopop industry, collaborating on recordings and concerts with artists such as Queen Wei, Hsieh Yu-wei, and Xiao Yu. In 2019, his contributions were recognized with a Golden Melody Award nomination for Best Band and a finalist spot in the Taichung Jazz Festival Competition.
