Damian Garcia is a Taipei-based jazz pianist from Texas and a UNT graduate. He has performed with legends like Paquito d’Rivera and Bob Mintzer, bringing a wealth of international experience from the US, Japan, and Taiwan to the stage.
Damian A. Garcia is a professional pianist and musician originally from Austin, Texas, currently based in Taipei, Taiwan. His musical journey began at the age of five, leading to extensive training at the Stanford University Jazz Residency, the University of North Texas Jazz Workshop, and the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. A recipient of the Piano Achievement Award from Texas State University, Garcia is a graduate of the world-renowned University of North Texas jazz studies program, where he studied under the tutelage of Stefan Karlsson, Michael Palma, and Dan Hearle. An active performer and recording artist with credits on dozens of studio albums, he has shared the stage with an illustrious roster of jazz greats, including Paquito d’Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Wayne Bergeron, Frank Wess, Butch Miles, Bob Mintzer, John Fedchock, Taylor Eigsti, Jamey Aebersold, Andre Hayward, and Tom Brechtlein. His career has also flourished in Japan, where he frequently collaborates with leading musicians in Tokyo. Garcia is an alumnus of the UNT Two O’Clock Lab Band and Jazz Singers.
