Hou Chin Lin is a veteran bassist with over fifteen years of performance experience. His musical journey began with the classical guitar, but a transformative encounter with Charles Mingus’s "Haitian Fight Song" during his military service led him to dedicate himself to jazz and the double bass. Combining his early stage experience in rock bands with rigorous jazz training, Lin possesses remarkable musical adaptability, navigating diverse genres with ease. As a member of "Our Piano Trio," he has been a frequent guest at major jazz festivals and has collaborated with international artists from the United States, the Netherlands, Poland, Israel, and Japan. His versatility extends to crossover projects with symphony orchestras, including performances in Disney and Pixar-themed concert series at premier venues. Beyond the stage, Lin is a dedicated educator who runs the blog "低音部" (The Bass Section), where he shares insights on bass theory and pedagogy. Currently serving as a bass instructor, he emphasizes the refinement of fundamental techniques and proper practice methods, establishing himself as a cornerstone of the Taiwanese jazz community.
