Berklee-trained bassist Hsu Hsun Shun honed his craft in Boston and New York, performing with jazz masters like Jason Palmer. Now based in Taiwan, he balances active performance with a dedication to jazz education and community outreach.
Bassist Hsu Hsun Shun discovered his passion for jazz during his university years. Following his graduation, he pursued advanced studies at Berklee College of Music in the United States, earning a Diploma in Performance Major in 2016. During his tenure at Berklee, he had the privilege of performing alongside distinguished faculty members such as John Baboian, Jon Hazilla, Ken Cervenka, and Jason Palmer. Upon completing his studies, he led his quintet in performances at venues including Red Room 939 and David Friend Recital Hall. In 2017, while based in New York, he participated in the "Music in New York" series and collaborated with Golden Melody Award-winning Hakka artist Hsieh Yu-wei for the "Stranger's Mood" concert. Since returning home in 2018, Hsu has served as a lecturer for the Sizhukong training program and actively collaborates with musicians across various venues. He is currently dedicated to advancing jazz appreciation and foundational education.
