German saxophonist and composer Jonas Ganzemüller brings an international perspective to modern jazz. A veteran of New York and Amsterdam stages, he now leads the quintet CONTRAPOINT in Taiwan, blending experimental improvisation with contemporary classical soundscapes.
Jonas Ganzemüller is a German-born saxophonist and composer known for his experimental spirit and international perspective. Having studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, he was previously based in New York City and has performed extensively across global stages, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, New York’s Lincoln Center, and Amsterdam’s Bimhuis. His career highlights include participating in a Latin Grammy-nominated project and performing with ensembles such as the New Generation Big Band, the "BuJazzO" (German Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra), and with musicians like Guillermo Celano. Since relocating to Taiwan in 2020, Ganzemüller has become an active figure in the local jazz scene through various performance and recording projects. He leads the modern quintet CONTRAPOINT, an ensemble dedicated to original compositions that blend improvisation with contemporary classical dialogue and multi-layered soundscapes.
