Justin Siu is a Hong Kong-based jazz bassist, cellist, composer, and producer. He began his musical journey with classical cello training at the age of nine, winning numerous awards during his youth. However, music took a backseat for several years while Siu pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Cambridge. His inner musical fervor was reignited years later while working in the tech industry in the United States, where he discovered the world of jazz, prompting an abrupt career change to become a jazz bassist. Upon returning to Hong Kong, Siu actively participated in and spearheaded many creative projects, collaborating with renowned local and foreign jazz artists. His notable appearances include the Macau Jazz Week (2015), the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival (2016/2017), the Daegu International Jazz Festival in South Korea (2018), and the Hong Kong Freespace Jazz Festival (2020–2023). Beyond performance, he is a producer and scriptwriter, notably for the literature and jazz production "Let’s hear: The Jazz Winds of Haruki Murakami" (2023). He is also the founder and chief of Innonation Limited, where he functions as a music tech specialist and creator. His major musical influences include Esperanza Spalding, Ray Brown, Christian McBride, and Marc Johnson.
