Yu Jia Liu is an accomplished bassist and educator active on the international jazz scene. A Taipei Jazz New Talent winner, he excels in cross-disciplinary collaborations spanning film, musicals, and original jazz tours across Asia and Europe.
Yu Jia Liu is an accomplished bassist active in the international jazz scene. In 2013, he participated in the filming and soundtrack recording for the movie "Dream Sugar Factory." By 2014, he performed with "In Tap" and the "Little Festival Jazz Orchestra" at the Wellspring Theater, where he debuted his original composition "Sleep Devoted." Since 2015, he has served as an instructor at the National Theater and Concert Hall (NTCH) Jazz Camp and toured with pianist Elin Lee for her debut album "Breathing." In 2016, his ensemble "Jazz Door" won first place in the Taipei Jazz New Talent Competition. In 2018, he performed in the multimedia musical "Frida Kahlo" at the National Concert Hall. That same year, he collaborated with German pianist Julian Moreen to co-plan the "Original Music Tour" across Taiwan and Asia, serving as the general coordinator and a core member of the Julian Moreen Quartet. In 2019, he served as a musician for the major musical production "Taiwan Movie Studio" and performed at the Taichung Jazz Festival. Dedicated to music education and promotion, Liu's performance footprint spans Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany. He excels in diverse collaborations, including original compositions, film scores, album recordings, dance, musicals, and contemporary theater.
