Gabriel Amadeus Hahn is a versatile drummer, percussionist, composer, body percussionist, beatboxer, and singer whose musical spectrum encompasses everything from sacred and classical music to contemporary jazz, pop, and world music. Born and raised in Munich within a French-German family of classical musicians, he initially studied violin and piano before switching to drums at age nine. During his drumset and percussion studies at the Conservatory of Munich, he performed with acclaimed jazz artists including Paulo Cardoso, Claus Reichstaller, Peter O’Mara, Karen Edwards, Leonid Chizhik, Christian Elsässer, Thomas Stebenow, and Rocky Knauer. Hahn's career includes significant ensemble work, such as the Eastern European group Konnexion Balkon, the French-German septet Das Rote Gras, and Tobi Hofmann’s Easy. Since 2009, he has toured internationally with the Grammy-winning vocal jazz legends The New York Voices, contributing as a guest beatboxer and body percussionist on their album Reminiscing in Tempo. He has also played with the Tobias Meinhart Quartett and the Lorenz Kellhuber Trio. After earning a Master’s degree in jazz composing and arranging from the Music University of Dresden, Hahn moved to Berlin to work with sound performance ensembles like fuchs+hahn, ATONOR, and OHRLABOR. His work deeply explores the human body through beatboxing, body percussion, and experimental arts, including a performance piece based on the ancient Chinese I Ching for the Myzel Sound Performance Festival. In the pop realm, he has served as a background singer and percussionist for German acts Roger Cicero, Howard Carpendale, and Max Mutzke, and provided background vocals for the Taiwanese band MAYDAY. Currently based in Taiwan, Hahn recently released his experimental solo debut album, Missing Pieces to Multipolar Imperturbability, featuring Berlin’s cutting-edge jazz instrumentalists. He also teaches his "The Musical Body" method at workshops worldwide, including the Vocal Asia Festival and New York Voices Vocal Jazz Camp, and holds a professional qualification in psychotherapy.
