Hong Kong jazz guitarist Michael Chan blends Eastern and Western traditions with a distinctive voice. A member of S.P.K. Trio and "Three and a Half Beats," he is dedicated to original compositions, modern jazz, and music education.
Michael Chan is a Hong Kong-based jazz guitarist known for his distinctive personal style. Seeking to develop a unique voice that synthesizes Eastern and Western musical traditions, he has pursued private study with local guitarist Tsui Chin Hung as well as American traditional jazz guitarists Chris Park and John Stowell. Chan is a member of the S.P.K. Trio, an ensemble named after the San Po Kong district where the members' studios are located; the trio focuses on performing original compositions and modern jazz pieces. Additionally, he is a member of the jazz collective "Three and a Half Beats" (翻騰三周半), through which he is actively involved in promoting jazz music and music education.
