Hong Kong-based percussionist Samuel Chan is a Juilliard-trained virtuoso and international competition winner. Recognized as a "jazz drum guru," he seamlessly blends classical precision with jazz fluidity, performing across major festivals and orchestras worldwide.
The Samuel Chan Trio is led by drummer Samuel Chan, a musician who began his formal training at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIED). Studying under the mentorship of the renowned jazz pianist Ted Lo, he graduated with an outstanding performing arts certificate. Chan later received a scholarship to attend the Collective School of Music in New York, where he further refined his craft. During his time in New York, he studied with drum masters including Peter Retzlaff, Ian Froman, Chris Coleman, and Kendrick Scott. As a performer and recording artist, Chan has collaborated with internationally acclaimed musicians such as Theo Hill, Sean Conly, Sebastian Noelle, and Ole Mathisen.
