Steve Cheung is a prominent Hong Kong-based drummer and a dedicated educator who has been an official Paiste Artist since June 2022 and is also affiliated with Yamaha Drums. His musical journey began at the age of 12 under the tutelage of his father, Cheung Kin Bor, a top session drummer in Hong Kong. By the age of 15, Cheung was already performing professionally in various nightclubs, and at just 17, he reached a significant career milestone when he was invited to play his first concert at the prestigious Hong Kong Coliseum for legendary singer Paula Tsui. Since then, Cheung has become a highly sought-after session and concert musician, collaborating with a long list of Hong Kong’s most iconic artists, including Sam Hui, Alan Tam, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Priscilla Chan, Eason Chan, Hins Cheung, and Janice Vidal. His extensive experience spans both studio recordings and large-scale live performances. Known for his versatile sound that sits perfectly within a mix, his current Paiste cymbal setup includes a 14" Signature Traditionals Medium Light Hi-Hat, 22" Signature Dark Energy Ride Mark II, 18" Masters Dark Crash, and 18" Formula 602 Modern Essentials China, among others.
