Drummer Steven Ma began his career in 2011. A graduate of New York’s Drummer Collective, he honed his craft under jazz masters and gained extensive stage experience in NYC. Today, he is a prominent figure in performance, recording, and education.
Steven Ma (馬仕函) launched his career as a drummer in 2011. In 2014, he traveled to New York for a two-month intensive study under the guidance of renowned masters Ian Forman and Tommy Campbell. Upon returning to Taiwan, he established a multifaceted career as a professional drummer, active in performance, recording, and education. In 2016, Ma returned to New York to further his training at The Drummer Collective School, studying with masters such as Vince Cherico, Peter Retzalff, and Ian Forman, eventually earning his Diploma in September 2018. During his residency in the U.S. from 2016 to 2018, he continued to refine his craft under musicians like Marko Djordjevic, Fred Klatz, and Adriano Santos, while gaining extensive stage experience at iconic New York venues including Desmond’s Tavern, Pianos, the Delancey, Connolly’s, Sidewalk Cafe, and Player Theater.
