Tseng-Yi Tseng is a Golden Melody Award-winning jazz pianist and composer. Trained in Brussels, he is renowned for his fluid improvisation and electric organ mastery, seamlessly bridging jazz, world fusion, and pop music.
Tseng-Yi Tseng is a distinguished Taiwanese jazz pianist and composer who earned his Master’s degree in Jazz Piano from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Royal Conservatory of Brussels). During his formative years in Belgium, he was deeply influenced by the free jazz concepts of Kris Defoort and studied under the mentorship of Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Loriers. His international career is marked by notable performances, including the 2007 "Taiwan Night" in Belgium, a trio collaboration with clarinetist John Ruocco, and a piano duo with Italian pianist Nicola Andrioli. Since returning to Taiwan in 2009, he has served as the keyboardist for the world fusion group "Orbit Folks" and has toured with major pop icons like Yoga Lin, Tanya Chua, and Judy Ongg, seamlessly weaving jazz sensibilities into the pop idiom. In 2014, his landmark album "Tseng-Yi Tseng / Symbiosis Trio" garnered both "Best Instrumental Album" and "Best Composer" at the 25th Golden Melody Awards. Renowned for his fluid improvisational style and recognized as Taiwan’s sole specialized electric organist, Tseng has also performed at the prestigious Java Jazz Festival in Indonesia. He currently holds faculty positions at Tainan National University of the Arts and Fu Jen Catholic University.
