Tonight, where's the jazz?
Tokyo-based multi-instrumentalist and improvisation virtuoso Takeda Risa embarks on her first Taiwan tour! For the Tainan and Kaohsiung performances, she joins forces with renowned Taiwanese saxophonist Minyen Hsieh and versatile vocalist YenTing Lo. This collaboration promises an imaginative soundscape where traditional instruments meet electronic synthesizers and effects, creating a vibrant and blooming improvisational experience. Takeda Risa, originally from Hokkaido, began her journey with classical piano and drums before immersing herself in the Tokyo improvisation scene in 2011. Since 2014, she has integrated synthesizers into her performances, crafting a unique sonic universe. She has shared the stage with masters like Akira Sakata and Seiichi Yamamoto and independently produced acclaimed albums such as "Pandora", "Metéôros", and "Parallel World". In 2024, she completed a tour across eight European countries. Joining her are Minyen Hsieh, a Brussels Royal Conservatory graduate and winner of the Taichung International Saxophone Competition, and YenTing Lo, who brings her ethereal voice and electronic effects to the mix. Together, they explore the depths of "Spirit" and improvisation.
