Kristin Fung is a powerhouse vocalist, pianist, composer, and improviser whose work traverses the musical landscapes of funky R&B, soulful grace, and jazzy joy. Based in Vancouver after seven years in Toronto, her uplifting originals and high-energy live band arrangements evoke the influence of self-accompanying piano queens like Alicia Keys and Patrice Rushen, showcasing her groovy piano chops and impressive vocal range. Her discography includes the EP "Live at The Garden" (2023), recorded live at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, and a series of singles including "Glory Days" (feat. Jacq Teh, 2024), "Why Don’t You Dance," "Transcontinental Crush" (2021), "You for You" (2020), and "Straight to the Heart of It" (2020). Her earlier work includes the 2012 album "Massive Stride." A soulful innovator, Fung is the creator of unique projects such as "The No Sweet Carolines"—Canada’s first Asian women-led R&B dueling pianos act—and the "Funk N’ Mink" outdoor music and chocolate series. Her international performance history spans the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Markham Jazz Festival, Roulette in New York (performing with Anthony Braxton), Ong King in Honolulu, Jade Music Fest Asia in Taipei, and Viva La Musica! in Kyoto. An educator with degrees in Voice and Education, she also teaches voice, piano, and ukulele, emphasizing discovery and mindful practice.
