Ikumi Koyama is a Japanese jazz vocalist and pianist whose musical journey began at the age of two in Yokohama. After studying jazz piano at Shobi University, she built an international career performing across Australia, Taiwan, and Japan. In February 2020, she relocated to London, where she recorded her debut album, "The Things In The Past" (Elsden Music), in March 2021. The album features a blend of jazz standards, original compositions, and arrangements of Joe Hisaishi's Studio Ghibli soundtracks, showcasing her dual identity as a vocalist and instrumentalist. Her style is characterized by a deep respect for jazz tradition combined with influences of 80s jazz funk, soul, and delicate Oriental melodies. Now based back in Japan, Koyama continues to perform and refine her unique sound, which bridges traditional and contemporary jazz.
