Tonight, where's the jazz?

Hong Kong composer and pianist Ricky Wong, a versatile figure in the local pop, jazz, and indie scenes, joins forces with jazz vocalist Rachel Sung for a captivating performance. Ricky, known for blending modern jazz with neo-classical elements, has collaborated with artists like Alan Kwan and Joyce Cheung, and currently tours with Hins Cheung. Rachel Sung, a Cambridge graduate specializing in jazz vocal improvisation, is celebrated for her warm tone and passionate improvisational style that spans traditional jazz and Brazilian music. Having shared the stage with Grammy winners like Justin Stanton and local legends like Ted Lo, Rachel brings a wealth of international experience to this collaboration. The duo will perform a selection of Broadway and cinematic standards—exploring themes of weather and vintage romance—interspersed with high-energy bebop tunes, creating a space where improvisation flourishes amidst familiar melodies.
