Sujong Park is a South Korean bassist and composer who crafts deeply personal music centered around the expressive possibilities of the bass guitar. Believing that music played on a single instrument carries a uniquely pure and honest feeling, Park focuses on conveying a vast spectrum of emotions and worldviews through his performances. Utilizing a rich palette of techniques—including harmonics, tapping, fingerstyle, and slap—he delivers dynamic, sensuous, and highly narrative instrumental pieces. In October 2022, Park released his solo bass album, Monowhale, a project written, arranged, and performed entirely by himself using just one bass and one track. The album features tracks such as "The Whale," "Once upon a Time," "Heavy wave," "Over the ocean," "The Wail of," "Overcoming," "Sunset," and "Midnight Cloud." Beyond his solo work, which includes acclaimed solo bass arrangements such as "One Summer's Day" from the animation Spirited Away, Park is an active collaborator. He has lent his bass playing to projects with diverse artists, including Fi-Né, Kuljelje Ljamcun, and Jemmy Kuo, bridging contemporary jazz, indie, and instrumental music.
