Tonight, where's the jazz?

21:00 — 23:00

Blue Note Taipei is honored to present the Oyama Hideo Quartet. A master of contemporary Japanese saxophone, Oyama Hideo was the lead saxophonist for the legendary Sharps and Flats big band for eight years and has performed for the Emperor of Japan. This performance will feature authentic East Coast Bebop and Oyama's original jazz compositions, showcasing the sophisticated sound of Tokyo jazz. The quartet features an elite lineup: pianist Iwasaki Daisuke, a Berklee alumnus and recipient of the Fukuoka Cultural Award; bassist Lin WeiSheng, who spent fifteen years in the New York jazz scene and was featured as a "Listen Up" artist by All About Jazz; and drummer Ochiai Seiji, a student of the great Charlie Persip with high acclaim from New York critics. With deep personal ties to Taiwan through his father, Oyama Hideo views Tainan as his second home and aims to foster cultural exchange between Japan and Taiwan through this world-class performance.
