Based in Yokohama, Yota Tsukada is a rising jazz drummer and composer. A member of the Daiki Yasukagawa New Trio, he blends traditional swing with modern, delicate grooves, showcasing imaginative rhythms and sophisticated original compositions.
Yota Tsukada is a Japanese jazz drummer and composer based in Yokohama. A graduate of the Jazz Department at Showa University of Music, Tsukada has established himself as a prominent rising talent within the Japanese jazz scene. He is a key member of the Daiki Yasukagawa New Trio, performing alongside veteran bassist Daiki Yasukagawa and pianist Sora Ichikawa. In 2022, the trio released their debut album, "The Three Roses," on the D-musica label (D-neo). On this recording, Tsukada contributed two original compositions, showcasing his dual strengths as a performer and a writer. His musical style is characterized by a deep appreciation for the jazz tradition, blending a solid swing feel with modern, delicate grooves and an imaginative approach to rhythm. Despite his relative youth, his sound reflects extensive study and a disciplined mastery of the instrument. Beyond his performance career, Tsukada is also active as a music educator, providing private lessons.
