Tonight, where's the jazz?

The Caprio Family
Within the development of Hong Kong’s jazz scene, The Carpio Family is a name of significant legacy. From the foundation laid by big band leader Tony Carpio to the creative paths of the new generation, this intergenerational heritage is vividly expressed through their shared musical language and onstage rapport. Chris Carpio, a pianist and educator, focuses on harmonic structure and fluid musicality, providing a versatile foundation for the ensemble. Bernard Carpio, an accomplished saxophonist and flautist, brings a solid, introspective style that balances melody with rhythmic drive, having performed on numerous international jazz stages. Vocalist Rosalie Carpio, trained in Melbourne and seasoned by international tours, is known for her clear diction and sophisticated, understated interpretations of jazz standards across multiple languages. This performance centers on a trio dialogue, exploring the depths of melody and rhythm through spontaneous interaction.
