Tonight, where's the jazz?

The Geoff King Luk Trio brings together three seasoned musicians active on both the Hong Kong and international scenes. Sharing a profound musical rapport built on rhythm, sound, and improvisation, the trio showcases the fluid dialogue of a contemporary jazz ensemble. Guitarist Geoff King Luk, formerly based in Chicago, is deeply influenced by jazz, funk, soul, and fusion. Since moving to Hong Kong, he has been a key figure in projects ranging from the experimental Noise Control to traditional jazz trios, focusing on texture and interaction over mere virtuosity. Bassist Jimmy Pittman, a Chicago native who settled in Hong Kong in 2012, provides a rock-solid foundation on both electric and double bass. Drummer Nate Wong, a Berklee College of Music graduate with roots in the UK and US, brings versatile energy from his extensive experience in both pop and jazz. For this performance, the trio returns to jazz standards, engaging in a real-time musical conversation that breathes new life into the classics.
