Tonight, where's the jazz?

Patrick Lui x Wilson Lam x Jeff Lehmberg
Patrick Lui is a well-known figure in the local jazz scene, active as a pianist, composer, and arranger. With solid musical training and a broad artistic vision, his experience ranges from international jazz competitions and directing big bands to collaborating with major pop artists. Patrick consistently explores the possibilities of jazz language across various musical contexts. Wilson Lam studied guitar and composition at Berklee College of Music and later pursued film scoring at New York University. This background allows his musical language to blend the spontaneous reactions of a jazz performer with the structural perspective of a composer. Since returning to Hong Kong, Wilson has been active in film scoring, jazz performance, and education. He and Patrick have served as the guitarist and keyboardist for Eason Chan's world tours since 2017, developing a deep musical rapport. Double bassist Jeff Lehmberg, trained at Juilliard and Mannes, bridges the worlds of classical and jazz. A member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, he is also a frequent and reliable presence in the local jazz scene. This performance features a trio composed of Patrick Lui, Wilson Lam, and Jeff Lehmberg. The minimalist instrumentation highlights the most essential elements of jazz: mutual listening, real-time response, and the delicate mastery of space.
